The Domesticated Badger

Now that the Badger is finished with school, he is getting around to working on projects that he has been putting off for a long time. One of the things he has been wanting to do is make some special extreme cold weather gear.

I can hear you asking why does he want to make special extreme cold weather gear? Because the best cold weather gear in existence can be made easier than it can be bought. And the Badger... well, some husbands are into golf or computer games or football. The Badger is into survival. I love this because it means that if our family is ever in an emergency or a disaster we will be totally set.

Anyway, the Badger asked me to give him a sewing lesson so he could get comfortable with the sewing machine before he started working with the pile of super krypton plutonium foam or whatever it is that's been hanging out in our basement.

I decided to have him make Bean a pair of pajama pants. A simple, easy project for a beginner.

Here he goes! Check out his tongue. He's really concentrating!

Holy smokes, this guy is GOOD! He took to the sewing machine like a duck to water. His seams were more even than mine! It was embarrassing.

He whipped these pants up in no time, they were perfect, and he had a blast.

Bean was quite excited to have new pants made by dad. Bet not many kids have pants made by dad.

Hmmm.... now how do I convince him to make four Halloween costumes for me this fall?

I LOVE that first photo. It's priceless!

And as for the halloween costume strategy . . . I know from experience that sweet little girls can get almost anything out of their daddy. ;o)

Best of luck!
