Actually, I have no idea if it is or not. I just think it must be because it's turning brown on top. I have no idea what they use it for either (liquor? sweetener? animal fodder?), but they grow a lot of it around here and I think it's pretty.

I think they make molasses out of it :)
It can be made into a sweetener like molasses, but technically real molasses is made from sugar cane. It can also be used for liquor and animal feed and other things. So around here, I'm not positive exactly what they do with it. Sorghum syrup isn't exactly a common local specialty.
